20 Questions

It is time for another 20 questions post.  I love these and I hope you do too.  As always you can answer all or one of the questions in the comments.  These are questions on my mind right now - definitely no theme today.  Just random questions about what is on my mind.

2.  Anyone have a BOB Revolution Single Stroller they want to sell me?

3.  How do you vary your workouts so that you keep pushing yourself further?

4.  How often do you weigh yourself?

5.  Do you have any favorite Mother's Day traditions?

6.  What time do you get up in the morning?

7.  What time do you go to bed at night?

8.  I have to go shopping for new jeans - do you have a favorite pair of jeans? (especially plus size folks out there)

9.  When did your child move to a big-kid bed?  Also, if they seem fine in the crib how long can I legitimately keep him in there?

10.  At what age do you start being more lax about routine and schedule with your kid, particularly around special events, family things and holidays?

11.  Are all types of wood safe to burn?  I pruned some unidentifiable to me wood from our mess of a side bed last night - should I burn it or take it to the yard waste place?

12.  How do you harvest Rhubarb?

14.  How often do you get a pedicure?

15.  What is your favorite thing to grill in the summer?

2. I wish I had that stroller for myself, so you're outta luck here!
3. I try to do a day of Jillian, a day of elliptical or running but I am on a week hiatus from exercising so I might not be the person to ask, I need to get back on the wagon and that is proving difficult.
4. I don't. I haven't weighed myself, I notice it in my clothes (mostly because I think I would be too depressed or I would go to the other extreme and become obsessed) but I am thinking about buying a scale. ahhhhh!

1. Not sure—our wheel lock is broken on one side but it’s still a great stroller (Maclaren Techno).

2. I wish I did!

3. I have no idea—looking forward to reading others’ answers!

4. Every morning. It keeps me more accountable that way.

5. Brunch!

6. 6:30 a.m.

7. 10 p.m.

8. I’m partial to Gap Curvy...

9. I don’t know if you consider a crib with the side removed a “big kid bed,” but we took the side off Anna’s crib at 23 months. It’s actually great because she can run around and play with her books in the morning, letting us sleep in. But she makes a MESS!

10. Hmm, I don’t think I will ever be lax ;) We try to be flexible about family events since there is travel to deal with, but I am a big proponent of structure and schedule. Maybe I’m not understanding the question...

11. No clue. None.

12. Again, no clue.

13. Pie!!!!!!!!!

14. I do my own about every 2 weeks. I get a pedicure at the cheapy salon downstairs from work probably every 3 months or so as a treat. More often in the summer.

15. Chicken & veggie kabobs, pineapple, pizza

16. Sour cream

17. Weekly, usually Sundays after church (our church is very close to Trader Joe’s). We have a list (we use ZipList, which is awesome bc we can send each other texts with grocery lists that are arranged by aisle order!). Would like to start more deliberate meal planning. We have a rotation of probably 5-10 meals that we make routinely so we pretty much just buy the same things over and over.

18. Haven’t started formal lessons yet, but we take her in the water a lot. We may start this summer.

19. No idea. Probably. ;)

20. We have an herb garden. I want a real one! I’d do tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, basil, mint...

4. Never. We don't even have a scale. I do notice changes in how my clothes fit.

5. Sunday holidays stink at our house; we are always too busy at church(es) to celebrate.

6. 6:45

7. 10-10:30

9. Our older daughter switched at 3 1/2. She is TINY, so she definitely hadn't outgrown the crib. She also is not adventurous, so she wasn't climbing out. She stays in the big girl bed now until we come in in the morning. Our little one, I'm sure, will be out of the crib way before that.

10. I'm lax with the schedule EXCEPT for bedtimes. They just do not function well without enough sleep. They are 3 1/2 and 15 months.

15. Chicken breasts for fajitas. We eat this at least once a week.

16. peanut butter

17. I go once a week. I've always made a list, but for about a year now, I've more-or-less planned out a week's meals. This has revolutionized (1) how much we cook/eat at home and (2) how much food--especially produce--we have to throw away b/c it's spoiled. I allow nights for leftovers and meals out, and I allow myself lots of grace. Just because Tuesday is spaghetti night, if I'm in the mood for Wednesday's meal, no biggie. I'll just switch them.

18. The older one started last summer, at 2 1/2. She didn't much like it. We're trying again this summer. Waiting till next summer (age 2) for the little one.

#11- Brush from your yard is safe to burn if it's allowed in the city limits. BUT- do yourself and your neighbors a favor and allow it to dry out first because the stench of burning green wood is horrible.

#12- Cut the stalk when it's at least a foot high. You can snip it at the base, or twist it until it pops loose. Toss the leaf.

#13. Wash and cut the rhubard into 1/2" pieces until you have 2-3 cups. Core and cut up one container of strawberries. Place both in a pot, add a cup of sugar and 2 tbsp of cornstarch, stir and cook until it's thick and the fruit has cooked down. Eat it on yogurt, ice cream, oatmeal and plain with a spoon.

#15- Veggies! Then chicken. But VEGGIES!

#17- Once a month stock up- big bucks and always with a menu plan, and a list. Smaller trips weekly for fresh veggies or special items, or stuff forgotten on the big stock up trip.

#19- Make sure your unit is clear of brush and that the coils are clean of debris, especially after the cottonwoods shed their fluff. Best thing ever to have for your furnace/AC is a programmable thermostat.

#20- Yes- tomato, peppers, herbs, lettuces, radish, zucchini, gold beets.

2. Anyone have a BOB Revolution Single Stroller they want to sell me? Nope, but I want one too, so make sure to get 2 :-) Thanks!

3. How do you vary your workouts so that you keep pushing yourself further? Always make a challenge for yourself. For me it was that I normally ran 30 minutes... then I would try 40 and then 45 etc.

4. How often do you weigh yourself? Now... maybe once a week, while I was actively losing... once a day (hangs head in shame)

5. Do you have any favorite Mother's Day traditions? Nope, I just want a Cold Stone Ice Cream cake and to sleep in :-)

6. What time do you get up in the morning? 5:45 am UGH

7. What time do you go to bed at night? 10:00... sometimes I fall asleep on the couch at 8 or 9, but that's b/c I'm growing a person and its really exhausting.

8. I have to go shopping for new jeans - do you have a favorite pair of jeans? (especially plus size folks out there) Not really, but I love shopping at Clothes Mentor, b/c they have name brand used clothes for a lot less than retail. Check it out. They have maternity and plus sizes too.

9. When did your child move to a big-kid bed? Also, if they seem fine in the crib how long can I legitimately keep him in there? Keep him in the crib if he is not climbing out. We didn't move "L" until he was almost 3, and that was just taking the front off the crib and putting the toddler bed rail on... Now he is in a real big boy bed, and loves it (he's 3 and 9 months) because we are needing the crib this fall.

10. At what age do you start being more lax about routine and schedule with your kid, particularly around special events, family things and holidays?
We've kind of always been this way on vacation/holidays etc.

14. How often do you get a pedicure? Not often enough.

15. What is your favorite thing to grill in the summer? Pork CHops

16. What is one food you can substitute a low fat or low calorie version for and not notice?
cream cheese and sour cream, also half and half, the fat free version is awesome.

17. How often do you go grocery shopping? Do you have a specific list/meal plan?
Weekly on Saturday mornings, and I always make a meal plan and shopping list.

18. When did you start swimming lessons with your child?
"L" had his first swimming lesson last Dec, he was 3.

19. Does central air need some sort of cleaning/ dewinterizing ever?
We never do.

20. If you have a garden what are your favorite veggies to plant?
Cucs, Tomatoes, Spinach, and Herbs. Plant your spinach now though, its too hot come June for MN.

3. I'll focus on one thing and do it every other day. On the "off" days I'll do random things. Right now, I run every other day, and on the days in between I'll bike, do yoga, or do weights.

4. Usually daily, but sometimes I skip.

5. Nope.

6. 5:30

7. Sometime between 10:00 and 1:00. Usually closer to 11:00 or 12:00.

11. All untreated wood should be safe. Check your city ordinances, though, to make sure you're allowed.

14. Hmm, my last one was at least 2 years ago, but I have a gift certificate for one I have to use.

15. Salmon!!

16. Low-fat? GROSS!!! I can usually tolerate low-fat yogurt, but I prefer full-fat versions of everything...there's usually less fake stuff. Then I have to make sure I eat less.

17. Once or twice a week. I try to have a meal plan, but it doesn't always work. I do take a list, though.

19. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

20. I'm partial to broccoli and green peppers, but I thoroughly enjoy watermelon and cantaloupe (although not veggies, they're tasty).

Casey said...

3. I am more concerned about enjoying my workouts than pushing further and further. If I don't enjoy it, I won't keep coming back. Luckily I enjoy some good sweat. :)

4. Every Friday morning.

9. We moved child #1 when he started climbing out of the crib (around 2.5 yrs). We moved child #2 when he started crying every time it was time to go to bed because he didn't like his crib (about 2 yrs).

10. We are more lax when the benefits outweigh the consequences. Major meltdown is not worth staying 20 minutes later at a friend's house.

12. Just cut it off the plant.

15. Vegetables

16. I eat greek yogurt instead of regular. It's not low-cal, but with the increase in protein I find I snack way less through the day after I've eaten it for breakfast or snack vs. regular yogurt.

17. Almost never. My husband does 99% of our grocery shopping. Every Monday evening. I have a very specific meal plan. I follow a generic guide every week, but our meals are different. It's in google docs. I can share it with you if you are ever interested. Let me know I'm @CBerbs on twitter.

20. Tomatoes. There's no way to recreate a garden tomato at the store. Even if you don't want to eat them plain/raw they make all the difference in soups and sauces. YUM.
